MBABANE:The Teaching Service Commission(TSC) has allegedly told recent graduates to wait for more years as some teachers who graduated over ten(10) years ago, struggle to secure employment in eSwatini.

The education crisis that resulted to some teachers migrating to Taiwan,United Kingdom(UK) and/or Ireland among other countries, was triggered by Government refusal to employ teachers in favour of security officers.

“TSC told me to wait as they are still considering applications for teachers who have waited for over ten(10) years,” said one of the recent graduates.

TSC Chairman Dr Amos Mahlalela had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

But Lot Vilakati, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) recently told this Swaziland News that, schools “continue to face shortage of teachers”, adding that, they expect the TSC or the eSwatini Government to urgently employ over four thousand(4000) teachers.

“Schools are facing shortage of teachers and we are expecting Government to employ 4000 teachers who are currently working on contracts permanently and then employ another 4000 new teachers”, said the SNAT Secretary General.

Eswatini is facing an education crisis amid Government failure to pay teachers decent salaries, provide working equipment and employ enough teachers.

As a result, some teachers opted to migrate to the European countries in search for better jobs.
