MBABANE:Mlungisi Makhanya,the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) has accused King Mswati of having powers to evict and deprive scholarships and jobs those who oppose him.
Speaking to Ligwalagwala FM,a South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) radio station this week,the PUDEMO President further accused Heads of State within the Southern African Development Community(SADC) of failing to take decisive action against Mswati because some of them,receive money from the absolute Monarch.
“In eSwatini,the King holds the rights to land and can evicts emaSwati anytime.He also deprive scholarships and jobs those who oppose him”, said the PUDEMO President when speaking to Ligwalagwala FM.
Makhanya said, as an organization, they will soon approach SADC and demand the implementation of a resolution calling for a dialogue in eSwatini.
“We will escalate the pressure on SADC to implement the resolution of the organization calling for a dialogue in eSwatini”, he said.
The PUDEMO President then thanked organizations that include the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) the Congress of South African Trade Unions(COSATU),the African National Congress(ANC) Youth League and the South African Communist Party(SACP) among others,for their continued support for the eSwatini struggle.
Eswatini is not democratic but,the country is ruled by King Mswati as an absolute Monarch,political parties are banned from participating in elections while human rights defenders,political activists, independent journalists and pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) are arrested, tortured or killed for demanding democracy.
MPs Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube were recently convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment merely for demanding democracy, they were found guilty by royal linked Judge Mumcy Dlamini on politically motivated terrorism charges.
