OPINION:Why King Mswati’s undemocratic regime values Tinkhundla buildings more than people?.

Sunday, 28th July, 2024

While reading the Book of Revelations authored by John who was persecuted by the Roman Empire and, subsequently exiled in the Island of Patmos,I was able to differentiate between a ‘church’ and a church building.

The Book of Revelation suggests that,God in his Trinity and as a Spiritual being, dwells within human beings and as a result,a human being, rich or poor,is of great value in the eyes of God more than a church building.

Now,the recent political unrest exposed how the King’s undemocratic Tinkhundla system of Governance values “Tinkhundla buildings” more than the people languishing in poverty.

Government rushed to spend millions renovating buildings and ignored the people who were injured during the political unrest not to mention patients who are dying in public hospitals amid shortage of drugs.

This means the Tinkhundla system is about buildings and/or capitalism interests.

No wonder even King Mswati rushed to announce the Re-construction Fund instead of addressing the plight of the people because his interest was centered around buildings.

Well,I thought Tinkhundla was about the people, even though others including myself, doesn’t subscribe to its ideology, but seemingly I’m learning new things about this oppressive system of Governance.

This is a purely capitalist system with an interest in enriching those who are powerful and politically connected not the ordinary emaSwati.

Renovating Tinkhundla buildings while people die in public hospitals amid shortage of drugs amounts to cruelty.

A Government that cares for the people should be ‘renovating’ and restoring the lives of patients in public hospitals by providing drugs and other working equipment.

But what can you expect from Tinkhundla,a political system without an opposition?.

EmaSwati will learn the hard way that, this regime is about enriching a few politically connected individuals not to eradicate poverty.

Tinkhundla should be dwelling within the people by prioritizing their needs not useless buildings.
