MANZINI:Sakhile 'Awviva’ Nxumalo, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) Youth League, the Swaziland Youth Congress(SWAYOCO) has launched the campaign to demand the unconditional release of convicted pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza, Mthandeni Dube and all political prisoners.
Speaking during the press conference held the Caritas-Manzini on Friday,Nxumalo said political prisoners are dehumanized inside prisons and urged the importance of unity in demand for their release.
“We are here to demand the unconditional release of all political prisoners. Our comrades are suffering in prison and dehumanized. It is for that reason we must unite and force Mswati to release them. We have Thabo Vulindlela Kunene, Bacede Mabuza, Mthandeni Dube and many other comrades", said the PUDEMO Youth League President.
Eswatini is ruled by King Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned from participating in elections while human rights defenders, political activists, independent journalists and pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) are arrested and convicted, tortured or even killed for demanding democracy.
