MBABANE:Julius Malema, the Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) has sent condolences to the family of EFF Swaziland President Nombulelo Motsa who passed away this week.

“The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is saddened by the news of the passing away of the Eswatini EFF President, Commissar Nombulelo Motsa. Commissar Motsa passed away in the early hours of the 23rd of August 2024 after a short illness. We send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues and call upon the people of Eswatini to rally in solidarity with the Motsa family in this trying moment. Commissar Motsa was a regular guest at EFF political events in South Africa and demonstrated her commitment to the ideals of Pan Africanism, democratic dispensation, and respect for human rights. She took an active role in leading the protest movement in Eswatini, bravely standing at the forefront of the struggle. Her bold actions drew the attention of the absolute monarchy\'s security forces, who subjected her and her family to relentless harassment and intimidation. Her pivotal role in the struggle for democratic reforms and human rights in Eswatini were crucial in placing this long-forgotten struggle to the attention of the continent and the world. Through her efforts, she popularised the EFF as a force to be reckoned within international politics”, reads a statement released by the EFF on Saturday morning.

The political organization further noted that Motsa was the first woman President of the EFF across all the African countries.

“Commissar Motsa was the first woman President of EFF across all the African countries where the EFF is established. She was a fighter, a respectful and disciplined militant leader who never gave up on the fight for democracy in her home country, even in the face of a brutal oppressive dictator. The EFF dips our banner in honour of this inspirational leader and will deploy a delegation to Eswatini to lay our fellow comrade to rest”, reads a statement released by the EFF on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief.
