MBABANE: Dr Salebona Simelane, the Registrar of the Univesity of Eswatini(UNESWA) has confirmed that the institution has been closed until further notice amid tensions over the scholarship crisis.
Speaking to the national radio on Friday, the Registrar said as the Management, they decided to close the institution until further notice after the students started to protest, however, he said classes will continue for those who are studying online.
“We urge parents to make sure their children arrive safely at home, those who are studying online will continue with their classes” said the Registrar.
Meanwhile, Mlamuli Gumedze, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said as students they are currently consulting various trade unions and political parties including the civil society seeking solidarity on the scholarship crisis. The students are intending to organise a protest march to force government to provide scholarships for all deserving students.
