WHY DID RUSSELL RESPOND WITH ARROGANCE TO TIMES MANAGING EDITOR MARTIN DLAMINI’S DRUGS SHORTAGE QUESTION: A Prime Minister who behaves like “Bafana bakaMdodi”.

Monday, 16th September, 2024

One of the most critical and important questions asked during the Breakfast Meeting between Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and editors was the issue of the health crisis, amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals, the question was asked by Times Managing editor Martin Dlamini.

It is clear now that, we are dealing with a stupid and low minded lunatic in Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, instead of responding to a genuine question of vital public interest, he opted to attack the senior editor and the Times, accusing the newspaper of being negative about Government.

Martin Dlamini is receiving a decent salary for working as the Times Managing editor and, I am sure he has a Medical Aid and affords taking his children to expensive private hospitals.

Therefore, as Nation Magazine editor Bheki Makhubu clearly articulated when blasting the Prime Minister,Martin Dlamini was not personal, he was asking this question in the public interest and for the benefit of the thousands of emaSwati living in poverty and who can’t afford private hospitals.

The editor further asked when will the powerful individuals accused of collapsing the health system be arrested, is that being negative about Government?.

It is clear now that,Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini is not prepared to account or provide services to emaSwati, he is busy fighting the media for holding him accountable on issues of vital public interest.

The question asked by Martin Dlamini, the Managing editor of the Times was actually the prime question, emaSwati are dying while on the other hand, the PM is fighting journalists.

King Mswati must remove this ‘thing’, his ‘boy’ will collapse State institutions in this country because apart from being an alleged corrupt thief, this Prime Minister is arrogant and not willing to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability.

The PM is busy telling us(journalists) to be patriotic, we can’t be lectured by a low minded Prime Minister, we have been doing this job for the past twenty(20) years and, we have seen politicians appointed and fired by Mswati.

Clearly, the PM wants all the newspapers to be his Magazine where positive reports about him and Government would be published so he could be seen as a good leader, we are not here to please him, emaSwati are dying in public hospitals.

Criticizing Government or those in power is in line with the basic responsibilities or duties of the media to demand accountability in the public administration.

As mentioned, Mswati must remove this Prime Minister and we don’t know where he identified him before appointment, maybe he sourced Russell from “kaMdodi” in the densely populated Matsapha Industrial Site because clearly, he is behaving like “Bafana bakaMdodi”.

Personally,as a journalist I’ve interacted with Prime Ministers and one of them was very close to me having known him before being appointed but, I’ve never seen such a stupid PM.

When stupidity collaborates with arrogance, the results would always be a disaster, the Prime Minister is a walking disaster, a mixture of stupidity and arrogance.

Russell Mmiso Dlamini must know that Prime Ministers come and go and, we will be here as the media reporting about issues of public interest.

We cannot keep quiet while emaSwati die in public hospitals amid shortage of drugs because we want to please a Prime Minister who behaves like “Bafana bakaMdodi”.

Our duty is to demand accountability from those in power, King Mswati must just remove this Prime Minister and send him “KaMdodi” where he belongs.
