SHISELWENI:King Mswati has ordered that two(2) Etjendlovu High School students who won the Southern African Development Community(SADC) Essay Competition be employed permanently, by Government.
This was during the official opening of Etjendlovu High School on Tuesday morning, the two(2) eSwatini SADC Essay winners Manqoba Msibi and Nonduduzo Ndwandwe, were recognised for winning the 2014 and 2015 SADC Essay Competition respectively.
As reported by Government online platforms Msibi will be employed as a teacher and Ndwandwe will be a paramedic.
The King then presented them with five thousand Rands(R5,000.00) each for hoisting the Eswatini flag and their former English teacher, Nontobeko Zulu received twenty(R20 000.00) for nurturing them and for her dedication and commitment.
“In 2014,while attending the SADC Summit in Botswana, Manqoba Msibi was announced a winner in the SADC Essay Competition. The following year, another student from the same school, Nonduduzo Ndwandwe, was announced a winner.Thereafter, I invited the two students to a courtesy visit where they came with their teacher, Nontobeko Zulu, who used to motivate the pupils to write essays together with their then Head Teacher.They narrated to me the hardship they face on a daily basis. They told me their area did not have adequate infrastructure, electricity, clean water and many others. They further narrated how Teacher Zulu sacrificed herself to provide quality education for them.I have been following this school closely and sent Government to check on the progress of the school. Today, it is my honour learn that new structures have been constructed, including laboratories with new computers,” said the King.
