Job losses as Elections Commission refuses to pay Slomoes Corporation over R20million for a voting system, Chairman Prince Mhlabuhlangene says Communications Officer must clarify.

MBABANE:Slomoes Corporation, a company owned by businessman Lucky Dlamini is allegedly being collapsed by Government particularly,the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) amid refusal to pay over R20million for a voting system.

It has been disclosed that, despite refusing to pay,the Commission went on to use Slomoes Corporation equipment for the previous elections while owing the said amount for the 2018 National Elections.

When this Swaziland News contacted Prince Mhlabuhlangene, the EBC Chairman, enquiring when will the Commission make the payment,he said he was currently bereaved(kufaka ingubo emlonyweni) but referred comments to Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe.

“Lishonile Mlangeni.I got your enquiry and have asked our communications to respond on my behalf given that, ngeSiswati sakitsi,ngisefake ingubo emlonyeni, I personally can't speak as yet, but refer the enquiry to our communication office to respond on my behalf accordingly.May you as yet refer to our Mr. Bhembe or as the case may be wait until I'm able to engage in full replies”, said the EBC Chairman.

But the EBC Communications Officer was not immidiately available for a comment.

Workers at Slomoes Corporation told this publication that, it’s been months now with no salaries and their Director retrenched them amid financial struggling.

“We are literally struggling, it’s been months without salaries”, said one of the employees.

Efforts to reach Lucky Dlamini, the Slomoes Director proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

It has been disclosed that, more companies owned by emaSwati are being deliberately collapsed by the eSwatini Government.

The businesspeople are allegedly made to render services to Government and never get paid or receive payments after a long period of time.

As a result, some of the companies have closed down while other businesspeople suffered stroke and died after banks attached their properties for failing to service loans.
