MBABANE:Penuel Malinga,the Secretary General of eSwatini’s main liberation movement,the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) has, on behalf of the political organization,released a statement, officially confirming the gradual recovering of President Mlungisi Mkhanya. 

The PUDEMO and eSwatini main opposition leader was poisoned in the early hours on Tuesday allegedly, by an agent of King Mswati’s regime for consistently demanding democratic reforms,the poisoning was another attempt to assassinate Makhanya after the bombing of his home at Malindza.

“We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have stood with us during this difficult time. First and foremost, we thank the South African Police Service (SAPS) for their swift response to this incident, ensuring that investigations are being conducted with the seriousness it deserves. We also acknowledge the excellent work of the medical team currently caring for the President, whose dedication has been instrumental in his recuperation.PUDEMO is particularly grateful to the Tripartite Alliance in South Africa, led by the African National Congress (ANC), for their unwavering support and solidarity. We also recognize the valuable contributions and prayers from the President’s spiritual home, the Sisekelo Church in Zion, who have continued to lift him in prayer during this time.Our appreciation goes out to the entire leadership collective of PUDEMO and the leadership of the Mass Democratic Movement in Swaziland, who have remained united and steadfast in this critical period. Their courage and dedication are a reminder that the fight for a free and democratic Swaziland is stronger than ever”, said the Secretary General through the statement.

The political organization then thanked the media for responsible reporting after the poisoning of the PUDEMO President.

“We are also grateful to the media fraternity, whose extensive and responsible coverage of this incident has ensured that the truth of this heinous act reaches the masses. To our loyal PUDEMO members, your resilience and unwavering commitment to the cause of liberation has been a source of strength for us all. We thank you for standing firm.This deliberate act of poisoning, orchestrated by the oppressive Swazi regime through one of its agents, is a clear attempt to weaken our movement and silence our leadership. However, we are not shaken, nor will we be deterred. This cowardly attack only reinforces our resolve to continue fighting for justice, democracy, and freedom for all Swazis. PUDEMO remains committed to the liberation of our people, and we will not rest until the shackles of the Tinkhundla regime are broken.Our struggle continues, and as always, we stand united in the face of adversity. The spirit of our people remains unbroken, and the vision of a liberated Swaziland is within reach”,reads the statement in part.
