MATSAPHA:King Mswati has appointed himself as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

The new Commander-in-Chief graced the inaugural Fire Day on Friday in Matsapha where he officially opened the Matsapha Fire Offices.

Worth-noting, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services is under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development however, “it is being transformed to be a Security Department like the Police, Army and Correctional Services” after its significance was witnessed during the recent political unrest.

The King is a Chancellor of the University of Eswatini, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Police and Correctional Services.He is also the Head of State and Government and exercises Executive powers through his Prime Minister.

King Mswati is also Ingwenyama and has absolute authority in terms of Eswatini Law and Custom, he is above the law and cannot be taken to court in eSwatini.
