HEALTH CRISIS:Maseyisini MP Nokuthula Dlamini’s Parliament motion exposes serious shortage of reagents,more women to die of late-diagnosed cervical cancer.

MBABANE:A motion moved by Nokuthula Dlamini,the Maseyisini Member of Parliament(MP) has exposed the worsening health crisis and, how women in the country remain at high risk of dying of late-diagnosed cervical cancer.

This comes after public hospitals stopped conducting cervical cancer diagnosis due to shortage of reagents,the MP alleged that,public health facilities has been without reagents and other theatre equipment for the past two(2) years.

The MP moved the motion after indicating on Order Paper that, public hospitals were not only facing shortage of reagents but,sutures,bandages (primapore bandages), paracetamol IV adco including other related drugs and medical consumables for theatre patients. She wanted Health Minister Mduduzi Matsebula to submit a report how he will address the ongoing health crisis.

“This House must direct the Minister to table a comprehensive report explaining how will this crisis be addressed”, said the MP.

But even before the Minister responded to the House, this Swaziland News reported that, public hospitals were facing shortage of equipment for kidney failure patients.

The equipment for kidney failure patients was subsequently delivered and the Health Minister said,the equipment will last for one(1) month.

But the shortage of theatre equipment issue, placing women at high risk remain unsolved.
