Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg urges emaSwati to assist in boosting the economy, says buying cars and fuel within SACU member countries contributes to a larger share.

MBABANE:Neal Rijikernberg, the Minister of Finance has urged emaSwati to assist the country in growing the economy by buying goods in countries within the Southern African Customs Union(SACU).

Speaking on his “Finance-in-Focus” program broadcasted on the Ministry of Finance online pages, the Minister said, the country has implemented measures seeking to boost SACU receipts. He said, SACU is an organization of five(5) countries that then share the revenue on imported goods or products.

“As goods come in our countries, we charge Customs Duties, these are levies and charges that we impose on imports”,said the Finance Minister.

The Finance Minister further mentioned that, implementing measures promoting the buying of cars and fuel within the SACU countries, boosted the country’s revenue.
