MBABANE:Roger Tsai, the Director of CECI Engineering Consultants, Inc Taiwan has been awarded a tender in the over R1billion construction of the Central Bank of Eswatini(CBE) Headquarters at Ezulwini.
This was confirmed by Dr Phil Mnisi, the Governor of the Central Bank when speaking during a press conference last week.
Roger Tsai is a brother to former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen and, his CECI Engineering Consultants has been awarded multimillion tenders including the construction of the Royal Science and Technology Park(RSTP) that was subsequently, marred by allegations of corruption.
“We have engaged CECI Engineering Consultants and the construction is expected to commence in June 2025”, said the Central Bank Governor.
A questionnaire was sent to Roger Tsai, however,he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, eSwatini indigenous businesses continue to struggle as foreign owned companies allegedly linked to King Mswati takes over multimillion tenders.
CECI Consulting Engineers is a Taiwan company, the Chinese island that “is regarded as part of China by the United Nations(UN), is backed by King Mswati to remain independent in complete disregard of the UN Resolution 2758 of 1971 that endorsed the One China Principle”.
The King is also advocating for Taiwan to be recognized by the UN as an independent Sovereign State.
Eswatini owned consulting companies that qualify to be awarded the Central Bank construction of new Headquarters tender include Eswatini Consulting Engineers, Dimensions 360, Manyatsi Nhleko Project Managers and APM consulting Engineers among others.
