MBABANE:Thantaza Silolo, the resigned Spokesperson of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) has warned those challenging the authority of King Mswati.

Speaking to the Times of eSwatini, Silolo said the King was placed in authority by God and therefore, those challenging him will not succeed.

“I will no longer plan evil or insult the authorities.I will no longer be seen on the streets calling for whatever change”, said the resigned SWALIMO Spokesperson as quoted by the Times on Monday.

Silolo is now among senior SWALIMO leaders who have resigned in the last three(3) years, others include former Ezulwini Mayor Busie Mayisela, lawyer Sydney Maseko, former Mbabane Mayor Sikhatsi Dlamini, former Secretary General Futhie Msibi and many others.

It has been disclosed that, some prominent individuals joined the newly formed party at the height of the June 2021 political unrest with the hope of seizing power and were promised Cabinet and Ambassadors positions by the founder Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane, the former Siphofaneni Member of Parliament(MP).

The political party then joined the Tinkhundla undemocratic elections with the hope of seizing power or control of Parliament, however emaSwati did not vote for candidates endorsed by the political party and as a result, only Magawugawu’s wife Nomalungelo LaZwide Simelane won elections.

The resigned SWALIMO Spokesperson is also among those who lost the Tinkhundla undemocratic elections at Lobamba Inkhundla, he has since conceded defeat and accepted Mswati as the legitimate King and ruler of eSwatini.

But Eswatini is an absolute Monarchy, political parties are banned from participating in elections, citizens are only allowed to participate as individuals.
