Health Minister Lizzie Nkosi confirms 21 new COVID-19 deaths as King Mswati continues with Incwala ritual ceremony.

MBABANE: Lizzie Nkosi, the eSwatini Minister of Health has confirmed 21 new COVID-19 deaths as King Mswati continues with his Incwala ritual ceremony attended by hundreds of regiments.

In a press statement released on Thursday 31st December 2020, the Minister further announced 212 new cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of cases to 9358.

“Twenty-one deaths have been reported today, taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 205” read the statement released by the Minister.

Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) recently warned that the Incwala ritual ceremony will spread the CoronaVirus, he appealed to the authorities to cancel it.

Speaking to this Swaziland News earlier, Bheki Mamba, the President of the Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union(SWADNU) confirmed that gathering like Incwala are contributing to the spread of COVID-19.
