LUBOMBO:Eswatini army has been deployed to strengthen security along the boarder-line with neighboring Mozambique amid political unrest in the South-eastern country.
Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo,the Army Spokesperson told the media that, they will ensure the safety of the Nation with reports suggesting that, over one thousand-five hundred(1500) prisoners escaped as the political violence escalates in Mozambique, the former Portuguese colony.
But Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini released a press statement on Monday evening confirming that, “the country is experiencing an influx of asylum seekers or refugees.
“A significant increase in arrivals has been observed from 15 December, 2024, with daily counts reaching as high as 399 on 29 December 2024. As of 30 December 2024, a total of 911 asylum seekers had been registered at Malindza Camp”, said the Prime Minister.
