MBABANE:Climate change is thretening eSwatini power generating projects amid low water levels.
Sicelo Nxumalo, the Acting Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy led a delegation from the Eswatini Electricity Company(EEC), the Komati Basin Water Authority (KOBWA) and the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) in a tour of the various Dams to assess water levels.
The tour was conducted on Tuesday and meant to evaluate the impact of the recent rains on water levels, eSwatini uses water to generate electricity but a large percentage “is imported from the neighboring South Africa”.
Dams toured to assess the water levels include Maguga, Hawane and Luphohlo.
