MBABANE:Gcina ‘Singalwi’ Magagula, the Ndzingeni Member of Parliament(MP), has been reported to the police for allegedly thretening to kill his wife Precious Mtsetfwa who is also police officer.
But apart from the alleged threats and attempts to kill the wife, the MP who doubles as a businessman of the Hhohho region,has been accused of colluding with his alleged new girlfriend in harassing the wife by sending threatening messages.
The new girlfriend allegedly went as far as sending pictures to Mtsetfwa where she was having a good time with the Ndzingeni MP.
In one of the pictures leacked to this Swaziland News by police officers working on the matter, the MP and the new girlfriend were allegedly celebrating a birthday and after the event, the alleged girlfriend sent pictures to the MP’s wife, threatening and bragging that, “the husband now belongs” to her.
“The wife is even afraid to speak about the matter, she is traumatized utsi her husband Libhubezi”, said a relative.
Efforts to seek a comment from the MP’s wife proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, the MP avoided questions about the matter while Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati declined to comment.
It has been disclosed that, the police allegedly grabbed the MP’s gun after he consistently pointed it at the wife’s face during a heated argument and when threatening to kill her.
Reached for comments on Sunday morning, Nonhlanhla Dlamini, the Executive Director of the Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse(SWAGAA) advised the wife to seek counseling services amid the alleged abuse, she then urged the police to ensure that, the law takes it’s course in this matter.
“When it comes to issues of abuse, it doesn’t matter who you are. If you say the wife is a police officer she is also a human being and traumatized and we have seen police officers being killed by their partners. So she must seek counseling services from SWAGAA or the police Domestic Violence Unit. Regarding the MP, the law must take its course because we don’t want to see the police dropping this case just because the alleged perpetrator is an MP”, said the SWAGAA Director.
