MBABANE:Lot Vilakati, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) has warned the Ministry of Education against harassing Headteachers, demanding answers amid poor performance in the recent Eswatini Primary Certificate(EPC) Examination.

This comes after the Regional Education Office(REO) under the Ministry of Education and Training wrote to Headteachers whose schools poorly performed in the recent exams, demanding answers.

“It’s a Government policy that all children must be promoted to the next class at Primary level. As experts in education, we tried to advise Government that this will cause problems because the children will fail at Grade seven(7) but our advice fell on deaf ears. Some of the children who were at Grade 7 did not even qualify to be there and there was no way they could pass. They were there because Government forced teachers to promote children to the next class even those who failed”, said SNAT the Secretary General when speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday.
