MBABANE:Kenneth Kunene,the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Swaziland(CPS) has congratulated President-elect Daniel Chapo of the Mozambique Liberation Front(FRELIMO) ahead of his inauguration next week, the 15th January 2025.
This comes after the Constitutional Council confirmed Chapo as the 65% winner of the recent disputed elections, the CPS urged the people of Mozambique to promote peace and unity in the interest of their country.
“Ensuring political stability is essential for maintaining peace and fostering an environment where all citizens can thrive. President Chapo commitment to dialogue and cooperation among various political organisations and communities is an important step towards building a cohesive national identity.The disruptive influence of imperialism poses a significant threat to Mozambique’s sovereignty and development. These external forces impose their interests above those of the Mozambique people, often seek to undermine local governance and exploit national resources for their own gain”, reads the statement in part, released by the CPS on Wednesday.
On another note, Venancio Mondlane who lost the disputed elections and subsequently fled to exile where he was driving protests that left dozens of citizens dead, is highly expected to return to Mozambique on Thursday.
