MBABANE:The People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) has expressed it’s profound sorrow and condolences on the passing away of Madeli Fakudze, a stalwart advocate for justice and traditional values, Fakudze is the brother of the late Chief Mliba Fakudze of Macetjeni.
PUDEMO is eSwatini’s main and largest political party, PUDEMO was in solidarity with the people of KaMkhweli and Macetjeni who were evicted by the late Prince Maguga.
The political organization said,Madeli’s legacy of principled resistance against the imposition of the royal regime will forever be etched in the hearts of the people of Macetjeni and Kamkhweli.
“Madeli Fakudze,along with his brother and many fellow residents,faced unjust eviction from their ancestral lands as they courageously stood against the imposition of Prince Maguga as Chief over Macetjeni and Kamkhweli.In a time when many chose to compromise their values,Madeli remained steadfast, embodying the spirit of resilience and integrity that defines true leadership.PUDEMO stands in solidarity with the people of Macetjeni and Kamkhweli, who have endured the harsh realities of the royal family's absolute rule. We honor Madeli’s commitment to traditionalism and his unwavering stance against oppression”, reads the statement in part.
PUDEMO said Madeli Fakudze’s fight “is a reminder of the ongoing struggle for a constitutional multiparty democracy in Swaziland”, a vision that PUDEMO continues to champion.
“As we reflect on the life of this remarkable individual, we are reminded of the importance of standing up for one’s beliefs and the power of collective action in the face of adversity.Madeli Fakudze will be remembered not only for his resistance but also for his dedication
to the principles of justice, dignity, and democracy. May the soul of Madeli Fakudze rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy inspire future generations to continue the fight for freedom and democracy in Swaziland”, reads a statement in part, released by PUDEMO Spokesperson Brian Sangweni.
