MBABANE:Jeremy Liang, the Taiwan Ambassador who is allegedly implicated in the corrupted R5.2billion Strategic Oil Reserve project, has donated a Quantum to the State owned eSwatini TV and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thulisile Dladla.
It has been reported that, the Ambassador who normally donates rice and other resources to Government, “is allegedly working with Swazipharm Director Kareem Ashraff to steal billions of public funds through the aforementioned project”.
The Ambassador donated the Quantum on Thursday and, it will be used to visit communities and assist those who neglected parents to remember their relatives back home.
Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang declined to comment further about the donation.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Friday, Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) described the consistent donations by Taiwan as strategic.
“What we are seeing with this Strategic Oil Reserve is that as a country, again our Sovereignty is being undermined in the sense that, oil reserve is very important in the strategic security aspect and in securing the Sovereignty of any country. It is for that reason that ordinarily, it should always be under the exclusive ownership and control of the State because if it’s under the control and ownership of the private sector or some foreign jurisdiction, what happens once the relationship sours between your country and that particular jurisdiction that owns your strategic national key-point such as an Oil Reserve?. So this is not a donation if you look at it deeply, this is just another sweetener to the gullible governing authorities in Swaziland in exchange for what is even bigger and more economically beneficial for the region of Taiwan,” said the PUDEMO President.
