MBABANE:Colani Hlatjwako, the One Billion Rising Coordinator has confirmed receiving a call from a Wise and Presidents Garments employee who appealed for help after the Management of the company allegedly locked and forced employees to work an unpaid overtime.
One Billion Rising is a women rights and advocacy organization, advocating for the protection of the rights of women and children.
“It’s true,I received a call from the employee, she said they were locked and forced to work an unpaid overtime. After 8pm they are transported to their houses around Matsapha and dumped on the road, they are expected back to work the following morning,” she said.
The Management of the company had previously denied to this Swaziland News when questioned about the alleged abuse and gross violation of the workers rights.
On another note, Wander Mkhonza, the Secretary General of the Amalgamated Trade Union of Swaziland(ATUSWA) urged the workers to join a union in order to protect their rights.
