Swaziland Conference of Churches President Bishop Steven Masilela dies of COVID-19

MBABANE: Bishop Steven Masilela of the Church of God has died of COVID-19 while being treated at the Lubombo Referral Hospital.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, his brother Antony Masilela who doubles as Lubombo Regional Secretary confirmed the death of the Swaziland Conference of Churches(SCC) but advised this journalist to call the number of the late Bishop saying the rightful person who must give further comments was in possession of his cellphone.

"As we speak I am on my way to his home, so I advise that you call his number, the person who must give you further comments is in possession of his cellphone" said the Lubombo Regional Secretary.

When this publication called the number, the family member who answered the call, asked to share further details tomorrow.

"Can we share further details tomorrow morning" he said.

Bishop Steven Masilela was well-respected in the Kingdom, his death shocked public figures who were contacted by this publication as he was in good health when delivering a speech during the memorial service of the late Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini.

"I am shocked because he was in good health when delivering the speech during the memorial service of the Prime Minister and now he is gone. It is clear that this COVID-19 is now a serious danger to the Nation, that's the sad reality" said a public figure who spoke to this journalist.
