MBABANE:Phetsile Masilela, the Executive Director at Junior Achievement(JA) Eswatini might soon receive a petition from angry young people seeking to demand accountability of donor funds.
It has been disclosed that, the young people were urged to submit business proposals that were approved and, they subsequently signed funding contracts.
But when the time came for them to receive monies to start their businesses,Junior Achievement Executive Director Phetsile Masilela made one excuse after another resulting to the youth forming a Whatsap group where they “are planning to march to the JA Offices to deliver a petition”.
Reached for comments on Tuesday evening, Phetsile Masilela, the Junior Achievement Executive Director denied that, donor funds disappeared within the organization but instead, she said some partners withdrew funding.
“Thank you for the message.I am not aware of any funds that have been looted in the organization. The only challenge I am aware of is withdrawal of critical sponsors due to the current economic meltdown and that has affected specific project beneficiaries and not all of them. Those affected were notified and engaged in a meeting and a plan was put in place.Should they have more queries they can contact our Communications Specialist in the office,” said the Executive Director.
