MBABANE:The United Nations(UN) Eswatini has collaborated with the Eswatini Higher Education Council(ESHEC) in establishing the Academia Platform that seeks to,among others, accelerate the implementation of SDGs in the country.
SDGs is an abbreviation for Sustainable Development Goals, a United Nations Agenda 2030 adopted by all UN member States,the objective behind these global goals is to promote peace and prosperity for all, while tackling climate-change and working towards preserving oceans and forests.
But apart from that, the SDGs further highlight the connections between the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainable development with the fundamental objective to ensure that, people on the planet live a better and sustainable life.
Last week, Principals, Directors and Heads of Higher Education Institutions gathered at the UN Eswatini House for the second session of the ESHEC/UN Academia Platform, a significant initiative in the country’s academic evolution.
The ongoing project “is facilitated by Dr. Ncamsile Motsa,the ESHEC Research, Monitoring and Publications Manager and, it’s a collaborative project that brings together the United Nations, ESHEC and higher education institutions to address vital issues with a particular focus on research”.
Designed to create a dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation, knowledge sharing and networking, the UN Eswatini-ESHEC Academia Platform seeks to achieve this through engaging workshops, seminars, and digital dialogues.
