ELANGENI:Buddy Msibi, the Elangeni businessman who was forced to remove lion and elephant statues at the entrance of his R8million mansion is now financially broke.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday evening, the businessman said trouble started when he built his mansion with lion and elephant statues at the gate and was subsequently targeted and lost almost everything.
“I was accused of building a Royal Palace and forced to remove the statues thereafter,the revenue authority demanded R1.2million as tax and tenders were stopped. Kungumanje sengaphilela lomfati wami ngoba uyasebenta ngondliwa nguye nje. Sengize ngicabanga kuyotigicita eNkhosini ngiyobika indlala ngiyati kutsi iNkhosi ngeke ingilahle.Nawe nje nakukhona piece-job lonayo unganginika sibi mbamba lesimo,” said the businessman.
Msibi said, despite the circumstances that pushed him back to financial struggles, he was trying to work his way up again and still hopeful that he will rise again.
On another note, Msibi is not the only businessman who has been forced into financial struggles under the Tinkhundla system of Governance, more indigenous businesspeople within the Small and Medium Enterprise(SME) are being targeted.
But some were forced to close their companies amid Government delay in paying suppliers and, the rampant corruption in the public administration where senior officials allegedly demand ten per-cent(10%) bribes for processing of payments.
