MBABANE:Mbongeni Mbingo, the Managing editor of the Eswatini Observer and Chairman of the Editors Forum wants to resign amid alleged sex scandal with Inkhosikati Sibonelo Mngomezulu known as LaMbikiza.
Senior editors held an urgent meeting on Wednesday morning at the Motor Vehicle Accident(MVA) Fund Conference room to discuss the removal of the Chairman who apart from facing the sex scandal with the King’s wife, failed to protect Nation Magazine editor Bheki Makhubu who was questioning Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini during the recent Breakfast Meeting and opted to grab the microphone to prevent him from demanding accountability from the PM.
Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini, a member of the Editors Forum and once served in the Executive Committee, has been calling for the removal of Mbingo as Chairman.
Dlamini urged senior editors not to form a break-away organization but remove Mbingo who has been holding the position for almost ten(10) years while refusing to step-down and allow elections.
But on Wednesday, Mbingo finally agreed to step down, senior editors will elect new Executive members next month and Mbingo has been given some weeks to prepare reports.
