MBABANE:The Executive Committee of the Royal Eswatini Police Staff Association(REPOSA) has released a statement, accusing National Commissioner Vusi Manoma Masango of intimidating Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala in the widely reported junior police officers Phase two(2) salary increment case.

In a statement sent to this Swaziland News by the Office of the Secretary General Sergeant Dumsile Khumalo, the Police Staff Association expressed serious concerns regarding the ongoing alleged intimidation of the Head of the Judiciary.

“REPOSA has learnt of the alleged unlawful delegation that has approached the Chief Justice and his officials in a bid to convince the Judges of the Supreme Court to deliver a judgment favourable to the Government in the pending review case to be in their advantage. REPOSA is aware of the alleged promises made to the Chief Justice that by delivering such judgement the NATCOM and his delegation would make it possible for the learned Chief Justice to retain his position in the Judiciary. This act is tantamount to extortion which is punishable in our jurisdiction,” reads the statement in part, sent to this publication on Friday.

Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson declined to comment about the matter.

National Commissioner of Police through the Office of the Attorney General(AG) applied for review of the Supreme Court judgment awarding junior police officers their salary increment.
