MBABANE:Eswatini Bank might soon repossess a white Toyota Fortuner from ‘dismissed’ Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service Sipho Tsabedze should the PS fail to service his car loan.

A February 2025 pay-slip belonging to the ‘dismissed’ PS in possession of this Swaziland News suggests that, the bank grabbed six thousand, five hundred and eighty-eight Rands, sixteen cents(R6,588.16) from Tsabedze’s last salary, he then received 0.00 as a netpay after other deductions.

The payslip suggests that, the ‘dismissed PS was paid only seven thousand, five hundred and forty Rands, ninety -seven cents(R7,540.97) for the few days he worked before being ordered by the Civil Service Commission(CSC) to vacate public office for allegedly forging his birth certificate to avoid retirement.

But a source within Eswatini Bank said even though “the PS is no longer employed, the bank will not just grab the car if he decides to forward other convincing sources of revenue”’or pay part of the monthly installment.

“We normally repossess cars within thirty(30) days after the default but it depends on whether the risk is high or not, so we handle such issues case by case. I would make an example; if he can convince the bank that, he is waiting for a gratuity or owns properties that could be used as a collateral while he service the loan, then we will not repossess the car,”said the source within Eswatini Bank car loans department.

But Lindiwe Shongwe, the Eswatini Bank Executive Manager-Marketing and Communications declined to comment about the matter, citing client’s confidentiality.

“Good day, Swaziland News.Due to customer confidentiality, we cannot comment on this matter,” she said.

The ‘removed’ Principal Secretary declined to comment about the matter.

On another note, retired PS Sipho Tsabedze has been removed from the Government Payments System by the Civil Service Commission(CSC) despite an order issued by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini calling for his reinstatement.
