MBABANE:Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) has filed an urgent application, he wants the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission(TSC) Dr. Amos Mahlalela and others jailed for alleged contempt of court.

This comes after the Government through the TSC vigorously defied a court order reinstating Dlamini and, directing the State to pay the SNAT President all his outstanding salaries.

Dlamini was unlawfully dismissed by the Government without any disciplinary hearing and was subsequently reinstated by the court but, Government defied the court order.

The SNAT President is also seeking an order to arrest Education Minister Owen Nxumalo and Moyeni High School Headteacher Gabriel Sabelo Manyatsi for allegedly playing a role in defying the court order.

Eswatini is an absolute Monarchy where “court orders that do not favour the Government”, are vigorously defied with impunity.

“That on the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Respondents, failing to comply with the said Order or to purge herself in terms of prayer 2.2, that they be held in contempt and sentenced to prison for a period of thirty (30) days, which period shall be renewable for a further thirty (30) days on them failing to comply with the Order or purges themselves,” reads the court papers in part.
