MBABANE:Businessman Lucky Ngubane has confirmed that, his multimillion business empire that he worked for and so hard over the years, is falling amid a serious fallout’ with the Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS).
Ngubane who was contacted by this Swaziland News earlier on Monday evening and could not be reached, subsequently contacted editor Zweli Martin Dlamini on Tuesday morning confirming that, “the story published by this publication was accurate as his multimillion properties including trucks are being grabbed by the revenue authority”.
The businessman said, he held a series of meetings with the revenue authority and one of Montigny Investments Directors even tried to assist him with some millions only to find that, the amount demanded by the revenue institution was ridiculously high.
“I’ve seen the article you published and it’s accurate, they are grabbing my trucks and other properties.One of Montigny Investments Directors who was sympathizing with me tried in vain to assist. Watsi loMlungu when we engaged the revenue authority, malini lemali lenitsi uyayikweleda ngitombhadalela, kwatfolakala kutsi timali letishisiwe.Hhawu sebangishayile Nkhosi kodvwa-ke emandla endvodza akapheli,” said the businessman when speaking to the editor on Tuesday morning.
On another note, more businesses owned by emaSwati are on the verge of collapse, “some Government suppliers are owed millions while on the other hand, the Eswatini Revenue Service demands tax, imposing penalties”.
Responding to this Swaziland News on the subject matter, Ntobeko Dlamini, the Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS) Director Marketing and Communications denied that, the revenue service has started to attach Ngubane’s properties.
“Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) operates within the confines of the law and adheres strictly to principles of taxpayer confidentiality.While we cannot comment on specific taxpayer matters, we remain committed to providing accurate information regarding our
mandate. We can confirm that no such actions as alleged in the article have been undertaken,” she said.
Businessman Lucky Ngubane was recently arrested and criminally charged for over R100million alleged tax evasion, he was subsequently released by the court on his own recognizance.
