LOBAMBA:Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) has challenged Natural Resources Minister Prince Lonkhokhela to make a commitment to Parliament and clarify if the Eswatini Electricity Company(EEC) won’t increase electricity with a much higher percentage, to recover possible losses that might be incurred’ subsequent to a review by the Ministry.

The MP was referring to a decision by the Minister who reduced the increase in electricity tariffs from fourteen percent(14%) to eight percent(8%).

“I know it was a political decision to reduce the electricity increase but political decisions tend to complicate things sometimes. Can the Minister give us assurance that, electricity won’t be increased again with a higher percent to recover possible losses that might be incurred by the company, subsequent to the recent review,” said the MP when speaking in Parliament this week.
