MBABANE:King Sobhuza, the founder of the current ruling Tinkhundla undemocratic system of governance will no-longer have his birthday celebrated in the country with immediate effect.
This comes after his son King Mswati issued a command, directing the cancellation of Sobhuza’s holiday, replacing with Lutsango holiday.
Home Affairs Minister Princess Lindiwe has Gazetted the cancellation of King Sobhuza’s birthday holiday as per the King’s directive.
King Mswati rules eSwatini as an absolute Monarchy, the cancellation of Sobhuza’s holiday was not approved by Parliament but, the King’s word resulted to the Lutsango Holiday in honour of Buganu Ceremony.
Buganu is an annual traditional alcohol drinking ceremony where thousands of women assemble at Buhleni and Hlane Royal Residences to enjoy traditional alcohol with the King and the Queen.
Men are also allowed to socialize with the women.
