MBABANE:”The Family Life Association of Eswatini(FLAS) and Swazi Observer Managing editor Mbongeni Mbingo must account to Labadzala and declare their intention of the reported twenty four thousand(24000) distributed condoms at Hlane Buganu Ceremony”.
These were the sentiments of a former King’s Advisor who expressed serious concerns regarding an article published by the Swazi Observer on Tuesday where FLAS Communications Officer Veli Gamedze confirmed the distribution of condoms.
“Tsine sati kutsi kuyagidvwa lapha asiyati lena yekulalana, manje nasomikisa ema-condom lapha kulomsebenti weNkhosi uphindze ukubhale phansi loko uchaza kutsini?. Uchaza kutsi letinsolo tekutsi kuyalalanwa vele tingito naku neliphephandzaba leNkhosi litsi bekwemukeliswa ema-condom. You see in the royal circles, you consult widely before taking a decision, kutsiwa nebulima uyabutsatsisa ubute kutsi “Ngwenyama bengicabanga kuletsa nawa ema-condom ngoba ngibona bantfu banyenti labany editor bangahle bafune kujabulisana ngabe kukahle yini?”. Ngoba lapho kuhlangane bantfu khona kuyenteka loku kodvwa akusho kutsi Buganu Ceremony baloko. You cannot just distribute condoms in someone’s event without consultation and then publicly declare that you have distributed condoms,” said the former King’s Advisor who asked to remain anonymous.
On another note, the former King’s Advisor said such cultural events are very close to the King’s heart and he might be offended if there was no consultation before the distribution of the condoms.
“Even if there was a consultation, confirming that publicly turned the whole Buganu Ceremony into a sex event”, he said.
