MBABANE:Superintendent Jabulani Madlopha, the Hhohho Regional Operations Officer(ROO) whispered to a SwaziMed Board member saying he was being used to stop a genuine Board meeting without a court order.
This was after he stopped a press conference at Hilton Hotel-Mbabane on Thursday, the press conference was meant to address the media after the removal of Board Chairman Sammy Dlamini and the subsequent suspension of Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane.
But the order to stop the meeting was allegedly issued by Acting Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla who was acting on behalf of Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini.
Interim Board Chairman Bheki Maziya was addressing journalists when the group of police officers armed with pistols invaded the Hilton Hotel to stop the press conference, suspended CEO Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane stands accused of colluding with removed Chairman Sammy Dlamini to loot millions of public funds within SwaziMed and, has been refusing to vacate office and allow an investigation into the allegations of corruption.
But as the matter that was exclusively reported by this Swaziland News fldevelops, “it appears that the alleged corruption and/or rampant looting of public funds within SwaziMed involves even the powers that be who are backing the suspended CEO” and removed Board Chairman.
“Cabanga nje kuyo kuyo-yuzwa, akuna-court order akunani, lona lotsitse angente loku angaphika kusasa,” said the Hhohho Regional Operations Officer after being asked by one of the Board members on the sidelines.
On another note, suspended Principal Officer Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane has been fighting to evade accountability amid missing public funds that “resulted to emaSwati struggling to receive or access medical care despite paying for SwaziMed Medical Aid that is fast becoming valueless”.
As a result, some South African and local private hospitals are no longer accepting patients with SwaziMed Medical Aid as Peter Simelane “has been delaying payments amid financial challenges within the country’s largest medical scheme triggered by alleged corruption”.
