MBABANE:Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane, the suspended SwaziMed Chief Executive Officer(CEO) allegedly defied a court order and, went on to host the Annual General Meeting(AGM) that removed the Board members who were demanding accountability of public funds amid alleged rampant looting within the country’s largest medical scheme.
Judge Ticheme Dlamini had ordered that, the AGM must not go ahead pending finalization of an urgent application filed by Business Eswatini but, Simelane and removed Chairman Sammy Dlamini defied the court order.
Worth-noting, while the AGM was continuing inside the Hilton Hotel in Mbabane on Wednesday, senior police officers were patrolling, making sure that, “the meeting is not disturbed or disrupted amid tension within SwaziMed”.
Addressing the media after the AGM, the suspended CEO confirmed that, Bheki Maziya from Business Eswatini and three(3) other Board members have been removed.
But Simelane who was suspended through a Board resolution stated that, he was not suspended and he wouldn’t have hosted the AGM if he was not legally in Office.
Other Board members who were removed amid demand for accountability of the public funds include Leonard Nxumalo who was representing the Eswatini Revenue Authority(ERS), Mzwandile Magagula(Eswatini Electricity Company) and Edward Sithole(Nedbank), CEO Peter Simelane said their term of Office had already expired.
