United Nations Development Program(UNDP) Resident Representative Henrik Franklin visits Phophonyane Farmer of the Year Winner Boniswa Dlamini who partnered with husband on agriculture project.

MBABANE:Henrik Franklin, the United Nations Development Program(UNDP) Resident Representative visited Farmer of the Year Youth Category Winner Boniswa Dlamini-Malaza and her husband, Canaan Malaza at Phophonyane who are transforming lives through their agricultural project.

It has been reported that, with training from a UNDP and the National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBoard) climate-smart agriculture initiative and a drip irrigation system, the couple have turned 3.5 hectares of overgrown land into a thriving vegetable farm supplying local markets. 

“Their farm not only sustains their family but also empowers women labourers in their community.Their efforts were recently recognised when Boniswa came second in the national 2024 Woman Farmer of the Year (Youth Category).On Friday, their farm was visited by UNDP Resident Representative Henrik Franklin and NAMBoard CEO Mr Bhekizwe Maziya to witness the progress of youth-led farming projects in the Hhohho Region,” UNDP online platforms reported.
