MBABANE:Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza, the convicted pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) sent a relative last week to communicate special greetings to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.

The MP who was arrested and subsequently convicted on politically motivated terrorism charges, thanked the editor for the consistent reporting about his plight and that of Ngwemphisi MP Mthandeni Dube.

It is alleged that, officials from an international organization visited the MP about three(3) months ago and efforts are being made to engage King Mswati to consider releasing the MPs who were arrested for demanding democracy.

On another note, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini applauded the MP for recognizing the role of the independent media even under difficult situations.

“As journalists we normally report about issues affecting the people and politicians who are being persecuted but some, never acknowledge the work we do, they insult us. I was actually surprised to receive a special message from the convicted MP saying “thank you. Tinkhundla system has a strategy of imprisoning human rights defenders and then, issue an order to the captured media to keep quiet and refrain from reporting about the political prisoners so that, they could be forgotten. I wish those who persecutes journalists working under difficult conditions, could learn from Bacede who acknowledges that, he can’t speak for himself now and, the independent media is his voice in consistently informing the world about his plight,” said the editor.
