MBABANE:The European Union(EU) Eswatini has donated agricultural equipment worth R3.1million in support of Eswatini Livestock Value Chain Development Project.

The equipment was handed over to Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Mandla Tshauke by European Union Eswatini Head of Cooperation Eva-Maria Engdahl and this, was during a ceremony held at Mpisi Farm in the outskirts of Manzini on Monday.

“This initiative forms part of a broader EU effort to empower the Kingdom of Eswatini’s beef and goat value chains through the ELVCDP, which is implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Veterinary and Livestock Services,” said the EU Head of Cooperation as quoted by EU online platforms.

Eva-Maria Engdahl said Eswatini holds a special place in its ability to export beef to the European Union, a privilege earned though its commitment to stringent quality, traceability and animal health standards.

“This speaks volumes about the country’s capacity to meet international benchmarks and the EU remains committed to supporting the sector’s growth,” she said.
