MBABANE:Simanga Mamba,the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission(CSC) has called for the digital capacitation of the Office of the Auditor General(AG).
The CSC Chairman was speaking on Wednesday when welcoming the AG who introduced a team from the African Organisation for English-Speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E).
The AFROSAI-E team paid a courtesy call to Mamba to share the work they are doing to capacitate the SAI.
“Times are evolving and Government bodies such as the CSC and Public Service should be alive to that reality. The Office of the Auditor General is in an era where it should prioritise audits that bring value for money and concentrate on compliance, additionally to just checking the balancing of accounts. As the capacity of the Office increases, qualification and relevant skills are necessary for auditors to have to ensure they contribute meaningfully to Government,” said the CSC Chairman as quoted by Government online platforms.
On another note, Auditor General Timothy Matsebula, appreciated the support received by the SAI from CSC, especially with providing the Office with the right personnel to achieve its mandate.
