MBABANE:Sipho Mthethwa, the Chief Investigator of the Anti Corruption Commission(ACC) allegedly sabotaged a highly sensitive investigation involving a plot to kill King Mswati by some senior army officials within the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF).

A whistleblower allegedly sent information to the ACC through the website reporting systems alleging that, the senior army officials were bribed to secretly sneak into King Mswati’s International Airport and temper with the King’s private jet, the informant forwarded pictures to the ACC to assist in the investigation.

But this Swaziland News investigative journalist is currently engaging experts to share an informed opinion on what exactly was the tempering in the King’s private jet.

In one of the pictures in possession of this publication, a small fluid container appears to have been deliberately damaged and then covered with a cloth, the whistleblower in the email sent to the ACC alleged that, this was meant to ensure that, the King’s private jet “experience mechanical fault and then explode in the air”.

It has been disclosed that, the information was received by ACC Chief Investigator Sipho Mthethwa who “sabotaged it as it involves high ranking army officials”.

But even before being allegedly sabotaged by investigator Sipho Mthethwa, it has been disclosed that, the matter was discussed by a team of ACC investigators responsible for receiving and analyzing information from whistleblowers.

This publication attempted to contact one of the senior soldiers mentioned in the whistleblowing email however, he couldn’t be reached and, due to the sensitive of the matter, his name will be revealed once he “has been reached to share his side of the story”.

Jabu Phakathi, the Spokesperson of the Anti Corruption Commission(ACC) declined to comment about the matter.

But King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane when responding to this Swaziland News said, it was not aware of the matter adding that, it would be hard for him to know as issues of security involving the King, remain highly confidential and not subject to public discussion.

“It is as hush-hush as it should be because it borders on security, particularly the safety of the country’s Principal-in-Chief. Security is not subject to public discussion, and as such we would not easily get to know what is happening  or happened in the corridors of intelligence ”, said the King’s Spokesperson.
