NOKWANE:Lieutenant General Mashikilisane Fakudze, the Army Commander, allegedly mislead King Mswati into appointing his right-hand man Mthiza Dlamini as Brigadier General, a decision that subsequently divided the Executive Command of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) amid nepotism and rampant corruption in the promotion of soldiers.
It has been disclosed that, about a year ago, Mthiza Dlamini who is allegedly related to Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko, was holding the position of 2nd Lieutenant but, he subsequently jumped and skipped the position of Captain to become Major and then from Major, he skipped the position of being a Colonel and now, he is the Brigadier General of the army.
The Army Commander according to senior army officials who spoke to this Swaziland News, has dissolved the Executive Command and now, working with the new Brigadier General in taking crucial State security decisions.
”Even his Deputy MfanaweNkhosi Khumalo is not consulted by the Army Commander when taking decisions particularly, in identifying soldiers who must be promoted”, said one of the senior army officials.
It is alleged that, the Army Commander further colluded with Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko in creating posts for the new Brigadier General Mthiza Dlamini.
Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, promotions in the army are reportedly based on favoritism, some soldiers have worked for years without being promoted while others who were previously promoted are stagnant in the same positions.
Brigadier General Mthiza Dlamini was elevated by the Army Commander and, the Public Service Minister who allegedly created the posts, he was then recommended to the King for the highest position.
