MBABANE:Sibongile Ndlela-Simelane, the former Minister of Health now Executive Director of the Alliance of Mayors Initiative for Community Action on HIV/AIDS(AMICAALL) has assured retrenched workers that, they will receive their terminal benefits.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Wednesday after the workers approached this publication, accusing her of presenting money that was meant to pay their benefits to the King, the Executive Director denied the allegations saying “the money presented to the King” was from ESCCOM.
“The money that was presented to the King was not sourced from AMICAALL but it was “setfulo” from ESCCOM where I’m the Chairperson of the Board of Directors. The issue of the terminal benefits is being handled by the Labour Department and we had agreed with the workers that they will receive 41% of their money for now but they refused. So everything was stopped and we are still negotiating and the Labour Department is working on the matter,” she said.
The AMICAALL Director said, workers were retrenched after the halting of funding by United States(US) President Donald Trump adding that, organizations were affected.
