MBABANE:Nomalungelo ‘LaZwide’ Simelane stood-up in Parliament on Tuesday and expressed support for the Taiwan R5.2billion Strategic Oil Reserve Project, defying her husband Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane who was vocal on Facebook, urging Parliament to reject the project.
MP LaZwide told Speaker Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza and the “entire House of Assembly that, the project is a game changer for Siphofaneni and will create jobs”.
This Swaziland News reported earlier on Monday evening that, LaZwide is highly expected to vote in favour of the project.
“This project is really a game-changer for Siphofaneni, people will be employed”, she said inside Parliament.
But Magawugawu was vocal on Facebook after this publication investigated the circumstances surrounding the project amid corruption allegations,he told his followers to call all MPs and threatened them that, they won’t return to Parliament in 2028 if they approve the project.
The project was approved by King Mswati even before being debated by Parliament at alleged inflated price, Government rejected a company that had agreed to construct the Oil Reserve with R2.2billion in favour of Taiwan.
